When I decided to create a logo for the Dubuque Camera Club, I wanted to capture something specific about Dubuque. I created a logo that incorporates the club's initials, the Mississippi, the Julien Dubuque Bridge, and shape of a camera body, while being abstract and graphic enough to serve in many contexts.

The top half of the logo is a gentle curve, representing the viewfinder hump of a camera, and also the Julien Dubuque Bridge.

The bottom half of the logo brings to mind the gentle waves of the Mississippi.

The letters DCC (Dubuque Camera Club) are formed in the negative space of the logo.

The overall shape of the logo implies the shape of a camera, with the enlarged middle "C" creating the shape of the lens.

The top of the logo fits the curve of the Julien Dubuque Bridge.

I created vertical and horizontal versions, with color, greyscale, and black and white variants.
